The Days After

I am really thankful for how God blessed us during the time of the funeral of Mom. The time he allowed us to spend at her bedside with my brothers and sisters and aunt and uncle were a blessed time of sharing and memories. Also the sharing with mom, encouraging and singing to her. Julie took pictures of hand holding with Mom for each of us and displayed them along with many items Mom had made. Michael, Clay and Julie, and Lori put pictures that me and my siblings had chosen of Mom with different people and made a video backed by music that my deceased sister had sung with a friend many years ago. My sister, Jana, had the idea to create an afghan with all of us making stitches in it while sitting with Mom. Sisters Jana and Sandy, and Julie did the majority of it, purple and lavendar of course and finished it 2 days before she died. It was used as a wrap for Mom. Several of the grandchildren sang as a group at the funeral. We all wore lavendar, including my brothers. Lori and Julie finished the service with "Fly to Jesus". The funeral directors were super, allowing us to help fold the bedding around Mom and gently lay her to rest. They also did a super job of elegantly displaying pictures and items Mom had made over the years. Thanks for your prayers and please continue. Several of us had a rough day today.

  2. Great post Mom. I thought about trying to write a post about her today, but btwn. reading your post and Lori's post and crying, I may try again another day. I'm so glad I was at a place to be up there with you for the last 3 weeks of her life. I'll never forget it.

  3. You never hear of anyone wanting to or showing care for a loved one like touching or folding the blanket around your mother. That's impressive to see something as rare as that. Your mother must have been very loved by her family.

  4. Dear Jane,

Thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog's "Show and Tell Friday". I would love to have you visit me more often, and it would be nice for you to start another embroidery project. Maybe you can share it with us on "Show and Tell".

I know how bittersweet it is to have a loved one part. Bitter because we will miss them, sweet because they are in glory with their Saviour. I am sure you will miss your Mother, may our Heavenly Father sustain and strengthen you through this time. May He be your comfort.

    Grace and peace to you,
    Mrs. Teapot

  7. The service for your Mom sounded lovely.
How precious you all word lavender or purple.

Feeling better is a long process. We lost my husband's Mom in December.
Sounds like you have a close family and lots of support. That will help, but there is still the missing.

    Blessings,
    Barbara Jean

    PS Thanks for coming by.
