Today I am sharing several items on my bedroom dresser. To begin with, our bedroom furniture was something that belonged to my Aunt Mary. I hope to refinish it someday. When our children were small, the girls used it. Maybe some of you have some suggestions on how to refinish.
This family is really a bunch of packrats but seeing everything that you ladies share has helped me to try to clear up some areas of my home.
I like to find dainty items when I am out and about.
Here is pretty little vase.
One of my favorite lamps. I turn it on in the morning when I am getting ready for work.
A doily that was a gift
A latern that was a gift from my husband
Unique, round nail clippers that I have had for years. A gift from my mother.
An iron that was used by my grandmother. I have it tagged so no one forgets where it came from.
A stained glass rose that my nephew made
Some of the other items I will share another time. Enjoy your day on Friday browsing with everyone as they share here:
Having been employed for a few years by a private refinishing business, I maybe can offer some advice on refinishing your antique furniture. It can be done at home, but it will be a time consuming project, and if you have the time and enjoy it, go for it. If not, you can always have a private refinishing business to strip your furniture for you and save some $ and do the rest yourself. (The way I would go) If you would like to have it fully finished, know that you can purchase a brand new (nice) piece of furniture for what you'll be paying. If you are interested in the project and need advice on how to go about it, feel free to e-mail me. I liked the stained glass rose... :)
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL pieces. I'm especially intrigued by the nail clippers. They look antique.
ReplyDeleteMy show n tell is offered for viewing, won't you stop by sometime today and keep me company?
Have a terrific Friday and wonderful weekend.
I love the nail clippers.
ReplyDeleteWe also have an old iron like your grandmother used. I believe my mother-in-law picked hers up from an antique shop.
Thanks for sharing,
Brenda
ps....well, if you consider yourself antique then I guess I'm ancient. [kidding!] But I am older than you.
ReplyDeleteI liked the clippers so much, I found myself at eBay searching for round nail clippers already this morning. :o)
I know nothing about refinishing, so I can offer no advice. I'll just admire your treasures. Thanks for sharing. Happy Show and Tell Friday.
ReplyDeleteYour pretties are very special. I love those types of lamps too. I have one in my bedroom but it is not an antique. I do love it though. What a great idea to tag something in such a cute way. I think others might catch on to your wonderful idea.

Thank you for visiting me. I love all the things on your dresser but I was especially intrigued by the idea of the tag on the iron. It is something I might do. I have collected some baskets and written on the bottom where they were purchased. I have a collection of favorite recipes in a book and noted where they came from and the first time I made them as well as any other info. I have several items given by friends and handed down by family which I need to tag as you have.
